About the artwork:

The Carnival, Albert Hall

There were several creative and charitable collaborations between the Chinese and Tasmanian communities over a 10-year period (1885-1895). Six artistic events were created in Launceston for the financial benefit of its community.

Illuminations, fireworks and flotillas were held in the majestic beauty of the First Basin, Cataract Gorge and Kings Bridge. Processions, opera, acrobatics and fireworks were held in City Park, showcasing the splendour of the architecture of the Albert Hall and the John Hart Conservatory.

About The Celestials collection:

The Chinese community, or the celestials as they were known, were amongst some of the first pioneers to settle in the North East of Tasmania. This collection acknowledges the Chinese people, connections, events and cultural heritage, all set within the Tasmanian landscape.

About the print on canvas:

Each canvas is hand-stretched over a kiln-dried timber frame and coated with Aquathane-UV liquid laminate. This ensures the prints are fade-resistant, durable, and easy to clean. Print comes on premium archival canvas and printed with genuine Canon inks to guarantee the prints are made to the highest standard.
