The Midlands Garden 1
Exhibited in The Midlands: Whimsy and Pathos by Mandy Hunniford at the Queen Victoria Museum and Art Gallery, Launceston in 2019.
The aridness of the protracted dry spells in the Midlands, contrasts starkly with the lush splendour of the domestic gardens of the colonial homesteads scattered throughout the area.
Set against the backdrop of the contested pastoral landscape, the Midlands artwork explores various themes such as colonial exploration, land degradation, privilege and whimsy.
About the print on canvas:
Each canvas is hand-stretched over a kiln-dried timber frame and coated with Aquathane-UV liquid laminate. This ensures the prints are fade-resistant, durable, and easy to clean.
